Are composite helmets any good? June 6, 2018 21:21

Interesting question, right? The answer is very simple, YES.

Motorcycle helmets are made in a wide variety of materials – often using a mixture of different materials laid down in layers to form what’s called a composite helmet shell.

Composite fibre helmets are some of the best motorbike helmets on the market. They’re usually constructed from a combination of fibreglass, carbon fibre sheets or aramid (Kevlar).

Head Injury Criterion (HIC) is an important criterion when choosing your next helmet. Generally, we can say that the most important thing to consider when choosing your helmet should not be the brand name, how it looks or if it is the latest, most expensive helmet in the market. The secret to providing yourself better head protection is to study the helmets market, getting the right fit, choosing the most comfortable one and making sure your next helmet ranks high in the test results.

If you'd like to study the  SHARP testing stats, you can see that all X-Lite helmets come with fantastic (and consistently) high results throughout the models. While we can say the X-Lite X-1004 Full Carbon helmets are the Best – the lightest and safest around, the tested X-1004 Composite Fibre helmets come close behind, ranking extremely high in terms of safety, weight and impact resistance.

This is how SHARP do their tests

And try it on, you'll find the X-Lite X-1004 (one of the) Best in the Motorcycle Helmet Market.
